Frequently Asked Question

If I file for bankruptcy, will creditors continue to harass me?

Not unless they want to find themselves in trouble with the court. Immediately upon filing for bankruptcy, something called the “automatic stay” goes into place. Once they have notice of your bankruptcy, creditors and debt collectors are barred from trying to collect against you in any way. The automatic stay stops collection calls, collection letters, lawsuits, foreclosures, repossessions, and other collection actions. There are penalties if a creditor violates the automatic stay.
